We are looking at buying a resale hdb. How many agents shld i contact/engage at one time? Can i engage 2 agents at 1 time just to speed up the viewing process, and decide which to engage when deciding which flat to purchase?

Hi,

To be honest, it is not the number that counts.
It is whether the agent you engage able to identify your needs and wants to assist you to find the right home.

You may engage as many as you want, but the number of listing available remains the same.

Suggest to find someone who willing to dedicate his effort & time to help you to narrow down to the right home.

There is no limit of agents you can engage. However, I will not suggest you engage multiple agents for your own personal benefits.

You may want to put yourself in the agent's shoe. Would you be willing to work for free? If you are one of the several agents helping a Buyer to find a home, with no guarantee that you will seal the deal, would you put your 100% efforts on this Buyer? Or would you prioritize another Buyer whom only exclusively engage you?

Everyone has their own family to feed. I suggest you speak to several agents first, before deciding on one to engage. It is always best for all parties involved to be transparent and honest towards each other. Afterall, I believe you would want your Agent to be acting for your best interest.

Good afternoon,

When you engage an agent,it would be good if they understand your financial status, requirement and preference. By doing so, certain amount of communication need to be established. By getting two agents, you might also risk the possibility of viewing duplicated units.

Hi

Having 2 agents may be a hindrance to the entire process. 1) you need to co-ordinate the viewing to avoid duplication. 2) you may spend more time sorting out conflicting information. 3) working with 2 agents may result in them giving you lower priority as they will need to focus on those they need to discharge their obligation.

Working with an agent allow him to focus his time with you. The key is to find the right agent. Not all agents are the same.
