We are currently staying in an exec. flat. However, we are not allowed to buy EC as we have an overseas property. So, we can only buy private condo and have to pay 40% downpayment? We also cannot downgrade our flat to 5-rm as well? So, it seems that we are stuck in between.

Hi Mrs Tong,

The most important aspect will be if you have the financial means to purchase a condo or EC. Since you have mentioned that you have an existing overseas property, new EC and HDB or resale HDB unless you are ready to dispose off your overseas property within 6 months of taking over possession of your purchase.

How about buying over a resale condo, which maybe within the price range of around $800k? As typical HDB transaction may take about 3-4 months time while private property takes about 2-3 months to complete, you can actually look at selling your existing Executive unit and purchase a condo within that range. I have a 3 bedrooms condo in The Woodsvale for sale in that range. High floor and very well maintained. Very minimum renovation required for this unit.
