We are a family of 7. My parents in law, husband and 3 kids are living under 1 roof (5 rm hdb). My husband shares the ownership with my parents in law. However, he is the one paying for the loan as both in laws are retirees. We would like to move out. Knowing my in laws are unable to continue with the loan, can we sell our current house and buy 2 houses. A 2rm for them and 4/5 room for us. We have gotten our HLE Letter but my in laws' have been rejected. How can we move forward with this?

May I know what was the reason indicated for the rejection? They should be eligible to buy together as a couple, at least a resale HDB, unless the MOP of 5 years is not met yet. I am contactable at 97432395  for further discussion.

When was the current HDB purchased? Are your in-laws Singapore Citizens or PRs? Technically speaking it sounds like they are eligible, however, since they are retirees, they won't be able to take up any home loan, thus the house should be financed via cash and their CPF funds that maybe available. Hi Erin,

Your parents in law will be able to purchase 2 room flats as a married couple and there is no reason that their HFE will be rejected. They can use the sale proceeds from the sale of the current 5 room HDB to purchase the 2 room HDB flat.
