My wife (SC) owns an HDB flat before we got married, I do not have ownership of it.
I am SPR and my question is if I can buy a resale HDB flat without selling her flat?
We have a little daughter who is SC too, so possible to buy a resale flat under my&my daughter's name?

Good afternoon Sir,

you will have to form a family nucleus to purchase a resale HDB therefore existing HDB will have to be sold.

By the way, has your wife fulfilled her 5 years minimum occupation period? Will you consider the private segment?

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately it is not possible because HDB view a married couple as a single entity and therefore your wife will need to be part of the equation as an owner or an essential occupier. If you are looking to upgrade to a bigger house, you may want to sell this house and purchase another bigger flat.

If you were to purchase a HDB resale flat with you as the sole owner and your daughter as the essential occupier, your Wife will need to be included as an essential occupier too. This means that she will have to sell her flat latest within 6 months upon your HDB flat purchase.

If you're looking to own 2 properties, you may wish to look into private residential instead.

Hi,

1) The HDB flat is under the jurisdiction of the HDB. There are rules and regulations on owning it.
2) You may buy a private residence but when come to buy another HDB flat, a married couple can only buy together and not separately.
3) The HDB views a married couple as a single entity and cannot be separated.
4) Therefore your idea of owning another HDB flat by yourself or with your daughter under married status is not feasible.
