Hi,

Unfortunately no, as both you and your wife's name needs to be included to form a family nucleus required to buy a resale HDB. This means she will have to sell her private property. You may consider to buy private property under your own name if she does not want to sell her own private property.

Good evening Sir,

you need to include your wife as an co-owner or essential occupier if you intend to purchase a resale HDB. By doing so, your wife has to dispose her interest in existing private property within 6 months from purchase completion date. You have to fulfil 5 years MOP as well.

Care to share what's your intention before this move? Probably we can discuss and explore other options.

Hi

Unfortunately HDB does not allow this as a married couple is not allowed to hold both HDB that have not met it's MOP and private property at the same time even if both properties are under separate names. Are both of you above 55 years old? If you are not, then you are not eligible to purchase a resale HDB unfortunately, as your wife will be required to dispose her private property and wait out for a period of 15 months before you are eligible to purchase a resale HDB based on the latest regulations. The above conditions do not apply to senior citizens (and their spouses) aged 55 and above who are moving from their private residential property to a 4-room or smaller resale flat. Nevertheless, these seniors must dispose of the residential property within 6 months of the completion of the flat purchase.

If either or both of you are below age 55 years old, you're not eligible to purchase a HDB resale flat at this moment, due to the latest cooling measures implemented on 30th Sept 2022.

If both of you are aged 55 years and above, you are eligible to purchase a HDB resale flat up to 4RM in size. Do take note that your Wife will be requires to dispose off her private property latest within 6 months of your HDB flat purchase.

Hi,

1) When comes to buying an HDB flat by a married couple. The married couple is considered a single entity.
2) It means that both names must be in the application.
3) This has nothing to do with ownership; it can be an owner-occupier state or both owners' states.
4) So if your wife owns the private property, under the current policy, if you and your wife are under 55 yrs old. Your wife will have to wait for 15 months after selling before being eligible to be in the buying application.
5) If both of you have reached 55 yrs old or above, then your wife may sell it within 6 months after your HDB purchase provided you are buying a 4-rm or smaller flat.
