Dear Sir,

You will not be able to do that as you won't be eligible to buy a HDB if your wife still owns the condo.

Is there any reason you would want to sell your condo and buy a HDB? If you are thinking of cashing out from your condo etc, you can contact me to discuss further and see what are your options.

Hi,

1) HDB flat is meant for assisting SC and SPR to own an accommodation who are unable to afford a private condo. Thus the rules are set according to that objective.
2) 1 SC or SPR family is entitled to purchase 1 HDB flat.
3) Once you are married, you and your wife are considered to be 1 entity.
4) So when you purchase an HDB flat, your wife if not the owner will be considered as an essential occupier.
5) Both owner and essential occupier have to fulfill the 5 yrs MOP before allow to own private property.
6) If already owned, both have to discard their private property within 6 months upon key collection of the HDB flat.
