Hi,

For the period that you are based overseas, it will not count towards the computation period for MOP. It only starts when your household is physically occupying the unit (ie 5years start from physical occupation of unit). Might this affect your housing plans? Thanks and hope it clarifies.

Good evening owner,

You need to seek approval from your HDB branch first before you can rent or sell your HDB.

Reason being that you need to physically stay and fulfill the 5 years MOP before you can do either one.

My advice is to approach your HDB branch office and we work things from there.

Evening,

Under HDB ruling, MOP of 5 years is required before you are eligible to sell your unit and it means that the owner have to be physically staying there throughout the 5 years. If you have applied from HDB to rent out the entire unit, during your absence due to overseas assignment, HDB will have a track record. Therefore you will be required to fulfill the requirement prior being eligible to sell your unit.
As for whether resale buyers would prefer nicely renovated unit or original conditioned unit, it would depend on their budget and age group. DIfferent buyers have different requirement which also mean that different type of unit will attract different group of buyers.
