My Spouse (Permanent Resident) owned Condo and just sold it off 1 month ago, and I (citizen) dont own any property before, How long do I need to wait in order to buy HDB resale and get Family grant if I apply myself as main owner and my spouse and kid as occupier?

Good morning,

Sorry to inform you that you have to observe a 15 months waiting period first before you are eligible to purchase a resale HDB with your spouse even he/ she is an essential occupier unless both of you are 55 years old and above, you will be eligible to purchase up to a 4RM flat.

Extracted from HDB website:
All applicants and occupiers listed in the resale application:

- Must not own or have an interest in any local or overseas private residential property; and
- Must not have disposed of any private residential property in the last 15 months before the resale application.

You guys have to dip into private market to purchase a place if not, have to rent first while waiting to purchase a resale HDB.

Which alternative will suit you guys better?

Unfortunately you will have to wait out 15 months before your wife is eligible to purchase the resale HDB with you, unless you are 55 years old and above and buying 4-room size and below.

Hi,

I regret to inform you that you're not eligible to get any Housing Grant, as your spouse had just sold off a private property.

If both you and your wife are below age 55, you will also not be eligible to purchase a HDB resale flat. You will be required to serve a 15 month wait out period after the private property sale to be eligible to purchase a resale HDB flat.

If both of you are above age 55, you will be eligible to purchase a resale HDB up to 4RM in size. You need not serve the 15-month wait out period.
