My Partner (SPR) owns a HDB with his sister (SPR) under the HDB siblings scheme previously. Now that we intend to get married, is it possible to remove his name under his current HDB , and leave his sister (SPR) alone for the property ? There are no other citizen in his family available for him to transfer his ownership to. We dont think we got enough money to get a private property either. I am a citizen.

Hi,

Unfortunately no, Single SPR can't hold/purchase the property alone with current hdb regulations. You may want to try to appeal with the hdb branch but chances will be slim, likely they will ask you to substitute your name with his sister's.

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Warm Regards,

Hi Ms,

This is not possible, as his sister being a SPR, is not able to hold onto the HDB under her single name.

I may have a way out for the three of you, but I will need more information from you before proposing the possibilities to you.

Should you need any further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you and your partner in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Good morning,

I'm afraid that your partner and his sister might need to sell the unit as SPR cannot hold resale HDB unit under single scheme. In the event that both of you are really looking at a unit of your own, your future sister-in-law would have to purchase a resale private property or choose to stay with both of you.

Dear Mdm,

I am afraid the only straightforward solution is for your hubby to sell the unit he owns with his sister as his sister is not able to own the HDB flat alone.

In this way, your hubby can free up his name, CPF and cash to purchase the matrimonial flat with you. Please feel free to contact me if you need further assistance!
