My parents (Dad SC 63, Mum SPR 60) are intending to get a divorce as my youngest bro is about to complete his university education in a couple of years. My dad is a blue collar worker and mum a housewife.

1. If my dad retains the HDB (fully paid), how likely would my mum be granted a housing loan in consideration of her age if she were to but a resale?
2. As my mum did not finance the HDB, would she be entitled to transfer her share of the HDB to my dad for a sum of CPF money for payment of the resale HDB?

Hi Ornate,

1) You have to find out if this HDB flat is solely owned by your dad or it is under joint tenancy. You may log into MYHDB (https://services2.hdb.gov.sg/) using her singpass to find out.
2) If this is under joint tenancy, your mum will be entitled to 50% of the value.
3) It is highly unlikely for your mum to receive any housing loan because she has no active income.
4) Even if your mum is legally entitled to 50% value of the flat, it will be difficult for your dad to come out that sum of money since he is already 63, his loan tenure will be limit to 2 years before reaching 65.
