Asked by
My mum wants to add me as a co-owner of her current flat. In the meantime, she is applying with my brother, who is single, for a new flat from HDB.

Once the new flat is completed, she will transfer 100% of the ownership to me. I will be over 35 years when the transfer take place in circa 3 years' time.

Can I rent the whole unit out or sell it then? Will I be subjected to the minimum occupancy period of 5 years from the date I was listed as co-occupier? Can me or my husband (who is not listed as an owner) purchase private property after I own a HDB flat?

Afternoon,

As you are married, you are not allowed to be the co-owner any HDB unit with another family member, without including your spouse. And when your mother choose to perform a transfer, beside being liable to return all CPF monies used by your mum, you are also to adhere to the MOP requirement.
