My mother in law is a PR for over 50yrs. Aged 75 now. She and her husband has paid off the house loan before her husband passed away. Therafter, somehow their son (my hb)'s name was put in as co-owner though nothing was used from my hubby's CPF. So now if my hb wants to take his name out and let his mom (PR) be the sole owner of their flat (over 30yrs) , is that allowed by hdb?

Good afternoon,

Do take note that because your mother in law is a SPR, she cant own the flat by herself (not eligible under any HDB scheme). She needs to own it with another SPR or Singaporean.

Hope my explanation helps! Cheers.

Afternoon,

SPR are not allowed to own HDB unit under single ownership. I would believe that your spouse name have being added in so that your mother-in-law do not need to sell away the unit.
