Good morning,

If you meant to purchase another resale hdb on your own name, its not possible as HDB recognizes both of you as a married entity family nucleus and require both names to be owners for the next flat purchase. This means he can't purchase a condo.

Alternatively you can each buy private properties under each individual names, this is one of the feasible options to have 2 properties.

Hi Mdm,

If you had served your 5-year MOP of your HDB flat, you will be eligible to sell it. Your husband could then purchase a condo under his name without having to pay ABSD, assuming both of your are Singaporeans.

Should he purchased the condo, it will not make sense for you to purchase a HDB flat under your sole name, because that would mean that he will have to sell off the condo that he just purchased. SSD would then be payable. You could however purchase another condo under your sole name, also without ABSD.

I am assuming that you will have already fulfilled the Minimum Occupation Period for the existing 5room flat, therefore it is possible to sell this existing 5room flat and proceed in the purchase of private property. Nevertheless, it will not be possible for you to purchase a smaller flat in this circumstances as the HDB viewed both husband and wife as a single entity, therefore should you decide to purchase a smaller flat, your husband will have to dispose the private condo purchased.

Hi Mdm,

Unfortunately under the current HDB rules and regulations, you will not be able to purchase a HDB under your single name as you are married. However, you will be able to purchase a condo under your own name. A condo may offer a higher upside capital appreciation in the long run as compared to HDB.

Hi,

After you sell your HDB to buy a condo, and then buy another HDB, you will have to dispose the condo that you have bought within 6 months.
If you sell your HDB to buy another HDB, you have to wait for 5 years MOP (minimum occupation period) before you can sell it off and buy condo.

So, the order would be
1. Sell your current HDB
2. Buy new HDP
3. Wait for MOP
4. Buy condo

Better recommendation would be
1. Sell your current HDB
2. Buy a condo under your husband name
3. Buy another small condo under your name
