Good morning P,

Only SPR and SC are eligible to have ownership in HDB. If your hubby isn't either, he cant. But good thing is that you are SC, you still can hold on to unit based on non citizen spouse scheme. For more information, you can clarify with your HDB branch office.

Hi,

1) Once your husband renounces his SPR status, he will have to transfer his share to you if he is currently an owner of the flat.
2) No foreigner is allowed to have ownership of an HDB flat.
3) If your current financial status does not allow you to buy over his share, you will have to let go of the flat.
4) Do discuss with HDB if you are taking an HDB loan, or a banker if you are taking a bank loan to understand your situation before the whole thing moves into an unfavorable situation.
5) If he is just an occupier, nothing will happen to your ownership and eligibility for keeping the flat.
6) Special note there is a buyer stamp duty involved in a transfer of shares in a property.
