Under the current ownership status, you should be the essential occupier of this HDB as HDB will consider both you and your husband as a single entity, therefore you will not be able to purchase another HDB under your own name. Nevertheless, you are welcome to purchase a private property on your own without additional buyer stamp duty in this arrangement, which is what many of the consumers out there will envy on given that HDB does not allow decoupling of ownership for HDB flats anymore therefore they will either need to sell their existing HDB in order to avoid paying additional buyer stamp duty.

Good morning Juliana,

You have to form a family nucleus with your husband in order to buy a resale HDB. If you wish to proceed with it, your husband has to sell off his existing HDB.

If you guys wish to own 2 properties, will you consider private property instead?
