My husband is currently a co-owner along his parents in their family flat. The family flat recently OTP-ed and they are looking to sell.

While we prepare the sale, I understand that my husband and myself as a couple can buy a HDB. My husband and I have the resources to pay the upfront using our existing cash and CPF.

May I ask, if my husband eventually sells the flat, can he use his CPF reimbursement from sale of his family flat to "remimburse" the cash portion?

HI there, from your question, can i assume if your husband can use the cpf refund/cash proceed from his current co own with his parent HDB for his next HDB which you are planning to purchase with him? Yes that is allow and actually encourage. however in order to use this feature. one must take note of the timing of both the purchase and the sales, which will varies depending on whether you are taking bank loan or HFE. You guys get to enjoy the grants as first timer as well. Unfortunately no, once you have used cash to cover the purchase price, you cannot reimburse that with the cpf refund that's coming back later after the sale. I can assist with both the sale & purchase and coordinate the timeline such that you can avoid the above situation and to use the CPF refund to complete the purchase instead. Yes it is possible for your husband to use his CPF refund from the sale of his family flat and the sales proceeds if any to finance the purchase of the HDB with you. However, you will need to time the sale of the family flat first followed by the purchase of the HDB so that the funds will be in time.

It is quite unlikely that you are able to reimburse the cash portion used for the purchase, using CPF thereafter. It is advisable to time the purchase and sale properly such that the flow of CPF funds can be managed.

Hi,

1) This is negative.
2) The cash used to pay any expenses in the purchase will not be able to reimburse using the returned CPF funds at a later date.
3) Therefore if you wish to utilize his CPF funds return from the sale, you will have to time in such that the returned CPF funds are already in the account before the completion of your purchase.
4) Note that it is just in time one day before the completion. It is advisable to have the funds ready at least 3 weeks before the completion.
5) The main reason is you have to give time for your lawyer to write to the CPF board, and the CPF board to react to the request.
