Asked by
My Husband and I just filed our uncontested divorce in china( we are both PR) and we own matrimonial asset, a condo in Singapore bought in May 2016 under his name ( I contributed the down lanyment of 40% of the whole value. My pr was not approved that time so it is under his name). Now I have a few concerns:
1. Can Chinese divorce documents be recognised in Singapore for transferring the house under my name? He agreed to give up the house
2. Can I wait until May 2020 to kick off the process in order to avoid high seller duties?
3. As my money was all made into the down payment do I need to prepare for down payment again or I can just continue to pay the outstanding loan?
4. In this divorce case, will 8%ABSD be required after May 2020?

Thanks so much for your professional advice!!

Hi,

As the property is a private residential property, there is no need for your to sell off the property, unless you want the property to be transferred to your name as soon as possible.

Should you do the transfer now, you will incur 8% SSD. If you do the transfer after May 2019, it will be 4% SSD.

I am experienced and well-versed in private resale transactions. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion..

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  .

Thank you.

Best regards,
