Hi Laura, As what Mike has mentioned, it is a gap which HDB has addressed therefore it is not permissible to do so, nevertheless, as a Singapore citizen household, you are able to keep your HDB should you decide to purchase a private residential property after meeting your MOP. My doubt here is, I am sure that you are able to afford a private housing right now given the plans you have indicated, so why are you looking to take the long path before purchasing a private condo? Prices of condos now are considered low that you can consider to purchase one before any turn of events in terms of regulatory changes to make it even more difficult to own a private condo in future, and prospects of appreciation of property is higher than HDB in a recovering or recovered market, therefore I am curious to know more about your housing plans in order for me to probably advise you better on the management of your real estate portfolio.
