If he buys a private property under his name, there will be an Additional Buyer Stamp Duty. However he buys with you under matrimonial home, buyer stamp duty will apply.

Yes, he can buy private property in Singapore without selling his property overseas.
However, please take note that ABSD for foreigner will apply.

Yes your husband can buy a property. If he is buying with you as a matrimonial home, then ABSD is not applicable. If he buys under his sole name, then ABSD will be applicable.

Hi Jean,

Yes he can. There is no restriction on foreigners owning non-landed private properties in Singapore. However, do take note that ABSD for foreigners (20% if he's not from Switzerland, Norway, USA, Iceland and Liechtenstein) apply if he's purchasing under his sole name.

If you're a Singapore Citizen, and currently do not own any property in Singapore, you may wish to purchase the property under both your names. This way, you will qualify for ABSD remission for Singaporean's first matrimonial home.
