Hi,

There are no implication on the eligibility of owning the flat after marriage.

You have to declare to HDB upon receiving your marriage certificate, this is a legal requirement.

(1) If you are SC or PR, you may be registered as owner or occupier upon marriage.

(2) If you are under foreigner residence status, you can only be occupier.

The difference on whether to declare as owner is dependent on your future plan. If you intent to buy a private property for investment purpose or future stay yourselves. Then it is advise to register as occupier only. So as you are not liable for ABSD.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more queries, do not hesitate and feel free to contact me at 90110636 , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
