My fiancée and I have purchased a 4-room flat in SG and key collection is in 2016.

We might be relocating overseas for work before or after our key collection.

1. Can we sublet out rooms without us being in the country or appeal to rent out whole unit?

2. Is it true that us not being in SG our MOP fulfilment is not being counted?

3. If we have to give up our SG citizenship, is it possible to transfer ownership to parents?

Afternoon Calvin,

To apply for rental of your property without your presence is possible if you have Power of Attorney assigned. As the MOP have not being fulfilled, HDB will need documentation proof to work on your case. Since you are not physically staying in the unit, MOP will not be computed during the period of rental. Without fulfilling the MOP requirement, HDB is likely to buy back the HDB unit if both of you were to give up your citizenship.

Thanks your question.

Judging from your situation, you may apply for whole unit subletting if you are to be relocated. subjected to HDB approval so all relevant documents will need to be furnished.

MOP is not counted for the entire subletting period.

MOP period if not met you cant sell the unit so if you are giving up your citizenship likely then HDB will take back the unit from you.
