My father passed away leaving a 3-room hdb. There is no will left behind. What is the process in order for me to inherit the flat? I do not think I am eligible to retain the flat.

Can anyone please advise. Thank you.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your loss, hope you are managing well. If there is no Will left behind, you will have to apply to be the Administrator of your late dad's estate to handle matters relating to his estate. It is likely the property has to be sold in the open market since you are not eligible to retain it.

Sorry to hear about your loss, hope you are managing well.

If there is no Will left behind, you will have to apply to be the Administrator of your late dad's estate to handle matters relating to his estate. It is likely the property has to be sold in the open market since you are not eligible to retain it.

First and foremost is to approach HDB which will help you prepare the Notice of Death and inform the remaining joint-owners to sign the documents at the HDB Branch managing the flat.

Dear Sir/Mdm,

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

As part of the admin procedures, you will need to apply to court for a Grant of Letters of Administration. Once that is done, you may then register your legal rights with the HDB branch office and will therefore be able to sell the property if you wish to.
