Do you mean that there is a supplementary agreement signed for the rent free extension stay? Is the extension submitted to HDB during resale application? If you have the agreement on extension signed, technically speaking even if there is no termination clause or penalty involved, you still have a case, nevertheless, because this transaction has not completed, if the buyer decides to walk away from the legal completion due to the disagreement, it can also get quite messy as you will then need to activate legal actions against the prospective buyers. I will suggest to have an open discussion with the buyers to communicate on the situation for everyone to understand better in order to move on.
