Hi K H,

You will need to work out your finances in details for this. One of my client was notified to collect their keys by HDB for their BTO unit prior to selling their unit and they had to push back the collection of key. You will need to determine if you are able to pay up the remaining portion of your BTO unit (assuming you will be paying in full using the cash proceeds of your sale) in order to take over the unit. If you are unable to do so, you will need to put up your unit for sale as soon as possible but time the completion before you take over the new unit, or probably look at the arrangement of securing a bridging loan to take over keys of your new BTO to kickstart the renovations before you can move over.

My client manages to sell her place and with the OTP on hand, secured a bridging loan to take over the new unit and did her renovations. She has since moved in to the new unit and awaiting completion of her sale next week.
