Hi,

To add in a 3rd owner for the HDB flat, you will need to go through HDB Branch to apply for approval, as it involves transfer or sale of part-share of ownership. Why not keep his name free so he can apply his BTO or new EC or get a private property on his own name?

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so as to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

1) The main disadvantage of doing so is all of you will have to observe a new 5 yrs MOP.
2) During this period, he is not eligible to apply for a BTO/SBF or to buy a private property.
3) Of course, it makes perfect sense if the main intention is to cash out from the sale.
4) You may approach your HDB branch office for advice on this part-share process.

Yes, this is possible. You can go down to HDB Branch Office to process this.

However, since the flat has already been fully paid up, what's your rationale of adding in your son's name to the flat? You need not use his CPF, nor take up any loan based on his income.

It would be wise if he can free up his name to purchase another property without ABSD in the near future, or in fact Now?
