Asked by
Me and my husband is living overseas due to his work commitment. Both Singaporeans and we previously sold a flat years ago. We have no properties in SG and overseas (living overseas in company apartment).
Are we permitted to buy a new uncompleted EC or BTO HDB flat while we are currently still living overseas?
Do we have to apply any special permission from hdb to buy? As because there might be a possibility that the flat or EC might be left vacant for a while after the TOP or keys collection date since our actual timeline going back to Singspore is not 100% confirmed. Thanks Gurus!

Morning Little Fish,

Both of you are currently on overseas assignment hence I would assume that your monthly income might have well exceeded the income ceiling set by HDB. If not, you can request for your company HR or payroll to prepare letter of employment, plus your pay-slip, apply for your HLE or submit for bank loan approval. If you do managed to get it but not able to come back to stay after your key collection, just write in to HDB, with company letter as documentation proof to request for delayed key collection.
