Maybe this is a silly question, but HDB's website does not say anything explicitly about this. If I already have an HDB (bought as a resale flat from the open market without any loan from HDB under the single Singapore citizen category), can I buy and hold a second resale HDB flat? If not, how do people upsize from a smaller hdb to a larger hdb? Thanks!

Dear sir/madam, I am assuming that you are intending to upgrade therefore doing your fair share of homework on this aspect. All SPR or citizens will only be allowed to own 1 unit of HDB therefore in cases of upgrading, as long as your finances allow you to make your purchase of the bigger unit first without selling the existing one, you can proceed to do so, and only to sell your existing unit after you have moved into the newly purchased unit. The window period allowed for you to sell your existing HDB will be 6 months from taking possession of your purchased HDB. I am not sure if I have addressed your concerns but do get back to me if you require any further assistance. Thanks. Afternoon, People upgrade to bigger unit or downgrade to smaller unit by selling their current existing unit. HDB only allow HDB owners to possess one HDB unit at any one time, with 6 months concession given to those who opt to buy first and sell later. If you are looking to upgrade or downgrade, you can opt to market your unit first and hunt for one later or buy one first and sell away your current unit within 6 months from key collection. Good afternoon! You are only allowed to own a HDB at any one time. In order to upgrade to a larger HDB, you must first fulfill your MOP first then 1) buy first then sell within 6 months from purchase completion date if not 2) sell first then buy. Hope my explanation helps. If you need any assistance in your property needs, feel free to contact me. Cheers! YT Tan, ECG Property. 9111 5171  Yt.lovelyhomes@gmail.com Read More
