Dear Mr. Phua, if you are not going to stay in the house during renting out of the rooms, it is consider subleting of the whole unit and in this case, you will need to get the HDB Approval.
If you purchase the place directly from govt or from resale market but with CPF grant, then you must stay a minimum of 5 years before approval is given.
If you purchase the flat with bank loan or with HDB loan from the resale market but without grant, or you have paid in full, you must stay a minimum of 3 years before approval is given.
