Hi, this depends on what you are looking for when you are selecting a BTO. Typically, agents do not advise on BTO flats as there isn't much transaction ongoing but you can definitely approach anyone you want for advice.

Depending on what your needs are, the people you look for can vary, such as if you are someone into fengshui, you would need to find a feng shui master, also other things to look out for are things such as facing of the unit, the configuration of the unit and many more. If you have a specific design in mind and must have a certain layout, then interior designer can help you, though usually interior designer will work with the space they have as well as what design concept you have in mind.

Is yours 4 or 5-room? Will go for 451X series or 452A for a start. Look out for units with minimal west facing so its less warm, and also corner units if still available. You are planning to sell upon MOP of 5 years?

Hi,

The following are the main factors to consider to determine the unit value:
(1) Distance to MRT: <200m more expensive
(2) Higher floor levels are more expensive than low
(3) Corner units are more expensive then corridor units.
(4) A higher remaining lease is more expensive than a lower remaining lease.
(5) Avoid odd corners units.
(6) Avoid west-facing units. Only bathrooms are not affected by west facing, in fact, a little west facing towards bathrooms is welcome.
(7) Keep good habits to maintain the unit. This not only provides a healthy environment for the family, also fetches a better price when selling.
(8) Lastly, try not to keep large size pets and pets that have a strong odor. You will find that it is going to have great difficulties in selling later.

Congratulations on your upcoming flat selection, unfortunately, agents in Singapore do not handle the transactions for BTO. Flat selections have plenty of factors depending on individuals. Are you superstitious in numerology, fengshui and etc? Direction of the sun as well as facing of other blocks or units can also be a concern to other buyers.

Both of you should discuss more about what the preferences are, including low, middle or high level. Are you looking for corner units only? Unit mix within the blocks can also play a part. All these factors essentially are down to individual preferences. The most important thing is to monitor the balance units closely after you have shortlisted your preference stack and block so you will have a list of units readily for selection when it is your chance.
