Apologies, I do not quite get the question. Since you mentioned you do not intend to use EC as an investment, what are you planning for in your question whether is it wise to stay EC for long? What are the issues you are anticipating or trying to avoid in this instance since return on investment is not a factor of your considerations.

Hi Eilsel Mil,

1) There is nothing wrong to stay in EC for the long term. This is an individual choice.
2) There are many reasons to decide on a matter.
3) The main reason I encourage people to upgrade to bigger HDB flats, EC, or private mainly is to do something for our future.
4) As long as it is affordable, it is always wise to upgrade to something better.
5) Not because this can raise your status by having a private estate address or boast around for able to stay in a better environment.
6) It is mainly this is a type of forced saving that can help when we retire.
7) Land is scarce in most countries, even more in Singapore. We don't have minerals or mines that we can tap on, land is the only natural resource we have. Thus it is more valuable than any other country.
8) Thus our property in Singapore constantly able to hedge inflation more or less.
9) But because there are differences on when you buy, which you buy, how you buy. This is when it is important that you make an informed decisions and not just assume.

I feel that EC is good for own stay and also investment as entry price is lower as compared to private condo.
