Hi I have actually managed to appeal for my seller to successfully sell their HDB 3 years into their MOP. with a valid reason of course. But a valid reason can mean different thing for different seller. If you are keen to proceed with your sales before MOP. I maybe able to help give it a push. Hi,

If there are no special circumstances, hdb will not take back the flat as typically to my understanding they do not want to hold on to inventory costs. If you are planning to upgrade to private property, all the more should not surrender the flat as you will be receiving less proceeds to upgrade and will make the upgrade more challenging.

Hi,

1) I'm not sure what difficulties you are facing now or having any specific plan that needs to sell your flat back to the HDB.
2) The HDB reviews every case on a case-by-case basis. So there is no reference that could be used to confirm a successful appeal.
3) The HDB might buy back the flat at 90% of your purchase price or at 80% of the current valuation whichever is lower.
4) You have to think of a reason why you must dispose of your HDB flat within the MOP. The HDB will review it accordingly.

Selling your HDB flat within the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) is a challenge. HDB reviews each situation individually, so there's no guaranteed success. They might offer to buy back your flat at a 15 TO 20 % LESSER THAN current market value.
