Is it normal for a single shop house to have a rear extension or is it not economically viable? I have checked URA guideline the area for our corner main road shop house can build up to 5 story high (18m) but what I notice is that most shop houses in that area have at least two units before considering having a rear extension.

You have to do the maths on your own to find out how much it costs for the extension and what are the monetary benefits you can get out from the extension thereafter, how long does it take to recover the costs for the extension. Read More
