Is it better to buy a resale HDB for around 800k to 900K in Tiong Bahru Area or upgrade to a condo? Currently we are staying in Tiong Bahru reaching our MOP 5 years.

We do notice that new launch condo that does not offer the following:
(1) Store Room
(2) A place like HDB in which we could hang our clothes.
(3) Rooms in condo does not have the means to have study work space. (i.e Important as we have kids & this is a major concern)

Is it better to buy an old condo & wait for chance for enbloc sale? I understand that asset capital gain would not be able to match with new launch entry price.

Hi Mugen, I always tell my client that there is no such thing as a perfect property. You either gain something and you lose something at the same time. If your major concern is still the asset capital appreciation at the end of the day, then a private property is still the way to go and of course location is of utmost important.

Moving forward, a HDB flat is no longer deem as an asset but just a roof over our head.

From an investment point of view, it is wiser to upgrade to a condo so that your potential of capital appreciation is higher.

From a practical point of view, you can go for the older condo where the layouts are better and you will have a proper utility room and study room.
