If you have long term plans to get a private condo lifestyle, and is someone plans ahead financially, EC provides an affordable entry level and are typically 10-20% more affordable than nearby comparable private condos. Quality of EC projects have being raised to levels which makes it difficult for one to distinguish between EC or private condo, hence its not a stretch to say that when its fully privatized, prices of both will likely converge. Whats more, you can enjoy grants if your household income is eligible.

Theres a lot more benefits going for ECs rather than BTOs. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Dear Sir,

There was a report and study done based on historical data. The result of the study was that majority of EC owners are able to enjoy a good upside potential on their property and enjoy a decent profit when they sell their property. I can send you the article for you to understand more. This is because EC are essentially subsidized housing. They are typically priced 10-15% cheaper than private condos within the same location.

If you have some savings, I will encourage you to go for the EC option. Although the overall outlay may be higher, the upside potential is greater as compared to a BTO and you can also enjoy the lifestyle. Since you have just graduated, you can adopt this option as you have not reached the prime of your earning power yet and this may just be the springboard towards your financial freedom.
