I'm an SPR now & would like to apply for Singapore Citizenship.
Can I still buy an HDB resale flat under the Single scheme (above 35 years old, single) while having ownership of an inherited private property in Malaysia?

Hi,

Yes, you're eligible to purchase a HDB resale flat under Single Scheme.

However, do take note that you will need to dispose off all private properties (local and overseas) latest within 6 months upon the HDB flat purchase.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Good afternoon,

You can purchase a resale HDB on or after you obtain your citizenship and will need to dispose off your overseas private property within 6 months from purchase completion date.

If not you will have to opt for private segment.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

Hi
You may purchased a HDB after obtaining your citizenship but needs to dispose off your property in Malaysia 6 months after the purchase of HDB. Alternatively, you may try to appeal to HDB if you want to retain your property in Malaysia. I am able to assist you on that. I am specialised in HDB transactions. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussion on this.

Hi,

1) Yes, you are eligible to buy an HDB flat once you obtain your citizenship.
2) Do note that you must collect your passport before you offer an OTP. Your new passport date must be earlier than your OTP date.
3) You have up to 6 months to sell your overseas property upon key collection.
4) If you worry you might need more time to settle your overseas property it is best to start working on it once you received the confirmation notice of your citizenship.
5) So that you will have another 6 months to work on it. Do note that penalties for violation of the HDB rules can be severe. The worst situation is the HDB confiscates your flat.
6) You will be required to sign an undertaking letter to promise you will sell your overseas property within 6 months upon key collection.
7) If you have a valid reason not to release your interest in the overseas property, you are advised to appeal to the HDB and seek approval before you commit your purchase.

Hope the above answer your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.
