I'm a PR and my wife is Singaporean. I own 100% of the condo that we live in.
She's ovef 40 and thinking about buying an HDB. Will that require me to also sell the condo even if her name is not on it?

Hi,

Yes to purchase resale HDB, both your names need to be included to form the family nucleus to be eligible. This means your name needs to be included and condo needs to be sold. The only way to own 2 properties is to buy another private property under her sole name.

Hi, appreciate your sharing. As HDB require both married couple to purchase it. You may have to consider selling condo 1st before able to go into HDB. Able to meet up and share the breakdown and options for you to consider.

Hi Sir,

Under the current rules and regulations, I am afraid this arrangement is not possible because in order for your wife to purchase a HDB, she will need to include you as either as an owner or an essential occupier since you are a married couple. To qualify, you will need to sell your condo and observe the 15 months wait out period before you can become an owner or essential occupier.

Yes, you will be required to sell your current condo and wait out for 15 months period before she is eligible to purchase a resale HDB. This is a regulation by HDB thus there is no way to get over this. If your plan is to own 2 properties, then the only option is for her to look into purchasing a private residential property.
