I'm 38 yrs old male, single, living in my parents flat in amk,all my siblings got married and have already bought a flat. What happens to my parents HDB flat if they passed on? will hdb forced me to move out and ask to sell off the flat?I heard many cases about it. Some of my friends adviced me to buy a flat on my own.Is it necessary?Any agents gone thru similar experiences? Need your expert advise.

Hi,

If you and your parents are concerned, and it is in their intention to pass the property to you when they move on, and you intend to keep the property, it is better to set up a will so that the property will be will-ed to your name. This will also make transition plans easier and prevent any potential disputes. You can keep the property as you are eligible under one of the HDB schemes. Thanks and hope to assist with your housing plans further.

Evening,

If your parents are willing to WILL the unit to you upon their demise, things would be much easier. If not, you will be required to go to court to obtain the Grant of Probate. This will allow you the administrator the sell the unit. However, do note that if contest takes place among siblings, the court will have to go into hearing.
