1) Under MCPS, you need not necessarily stay with your parents. The main criteria are your parents' residence location is within 4km of your BTO application.
2) Of course, you can also choose to stay with them in this BTO application.
3) It does not make sense that your parents need to dispose of their flat before BTO TOP.
4) The main objection of HDB is to provide affordable accommodation for all citizens and permanent residences and not to make you lost your current shelter.
5) Of course, if financial status allowed, you may also consider MGPS so that you and your parents stay within the same BTO application. Your parents may apply for a smaller unit if they willing to do that.
6) However, it would be safer if you received a black & white before you proceed with your plan. Suggest you put up this question to HDB so as to protect your interest.
