If i purchased a resale HDB as a single, got married a year later and after the MOP am i able to transfer the ownership of the HDB to my spouse and rent it out, so i can be freed up to purchase another private property without the ABSD?

Reason for this is because i'm the main income earning and my spouse will not be able to loan as much from the bank.

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately this is not feasible as you will be subjected to the 5 years Minimum Occupation Period during which you cannot sell the unit. Under the current rules and regulations, you will not be able to exit the property by transferring to your wife as well.

Hi,

Unfortunately no, to be able to keep the hdb the family nucleus must be maintained, ie. your name can't be withdrawn even though the hdb has met the MOP and your name has to be part of the family nucleus.

Hi,

If possible, approach a profession to discuss your plan, so that at least you know what options you could choose.

1) You as a sole owner of the HDB flat, when you do transfer, also meaning this is a sale since there are no other owner.
In this case your spouse will be the buyer.

2) Do note if you sell very much under market value, HDB will step in to investigate and most properly will stop the transaction.

3) Even if you buy now using cash only, you cannot give away to your wife as gift, as the ownership of HDB is under HDB rules and regulation.
The owner must be eligible to own the flat; citizenship, age limit, family nucleus etc.
