If I am the only next of kin to a deceased member of the family. Do I need to sell away the HDB property of the deceased as I currently owned a private property. I do not have any HDB properties vested under my name currently.

Evening,

Once the sole owner of the unit passed on, the NOK can apply grant of probate. This is provided there's no existing WILL being prepared. With the probate, you can opt to take over the unit or market the unit into resale market. This is provided there's no contest for your decisions. As you are currently holding private property, you are required to sell it away within 6 month from key collection, if you opt to keep the HDB unit.

DO feel free to contact me if you require further assistance.
