Hi,

1) It is mandatory to apply for an HFE before starting your viewing. This is a requirement issued by the HDB.
2) All agents are instructed that any OTP issued without an approved HFE will be penalized.
3) In the current market, all agents will ask whether the viewers have valid HFE before arranging for viewing.
4) The HFE not only validates your eligibility, it also assesses your financial status to ensure you are aware of how comfortable you are in terms of finance to buy. The amount of eligible grants will also be listed in the approved HFE.
5) This will reduce disputes between the buyers and sellers and smoothen all transactions over eligibility and finance issues.
6) You may browse around to understand which location and types of flats you think you are comfortable buying while waiting for the HFE to be approved.
7) On 4th Nov 2023, the HDB announced the validity of the approved HFE will be extended to 9 months applicable to all HFE issued from 7 Nov 2023 onwards.
8) The new validity period of 9 months will stand until further notice.
