I would need to buy another flat and would like to know how the process works? I have heard of the contra facility but in the event the contra facility is not granted, does it mean that I will be homeless till only after I sell the current HDB flat? Thanks.

Contra means that the proceeds of the sale of your flat goes to pay for the purchase of your other flat.

In such circumstances, only one party can contra. If you evoke the contra facility, the buyer of your flat cannot contra, the seller of the flat you are buying also cannot contra.

Timing of such transactions must be done properly to avoid hiccups.
