I would like my mum to be listed as an occupier for our new purchase of a resale flat (jointly owned by husband and I) under the Proximity Housing Grant, mum to be living with us. She currently owns her own HDB unit (MOP over). My question is- Does she need to dispose of her own HDB unit, to be listed in this new resale flat purchase as occupier. Thank you.

Hi,

1) You are absolutely correct that she cannot be an owner of any flat in order to be an occupier in your flat.
2) You can only apply for a proximity grant upon submission of resale application.
3) If you intend to apply for the proximity grant after key collection. You will have to approach your HDB branch office whether this is allowed to do so.

Hi Ms,

If you include your Mother as the essential occupier of your flat to enjoy the $30k Proximity Housing Grant, she will have to dispose off her interest in her current flat.

Alternatively, if you're purchasing a flat that is within 4km to her place of residence, then you can apply for PHG of $20k. This way, she need not sell off her current flat.
