Asked by
I wish to purchase a flat and leave it vacant for 5yrs as I'm currently staying with my parents who is looking after my 1yr old kid. We intend to shift in when our kid is 6yrs and find him a school near our new flat.

Can my in-laws shift into my new flat during that window period of 5yrs and rent out their own flat?

    Hi, Catherine.

    Thank you for your response.
    Really appreciate it :)
Hi Mighty, unfortunately with the new hdb rules, you cannot rent out your new house. However if your mil house is not within the new hdb ruling, they can rent out their house and stay with you instead.
If you need any assistance, please feel to contact me.

    Hi, Tricia.

    Thank you for your reply.
Just found out from HDB that my application for a new flat will be in second timer group, which means very very slim chance to have my own flat.
