I will be selling my 4 room flat in Jurong West soon and going to buy a 3 room in the open market (looking at east, near mrt, preferable corner). Do I have to pay both seller's commission and buyer's commission? If so, at 1% each transaction?

Commission is negotiation,the most important point is you can sell the good price for your current HDB, WE always strong marketing the seller listing to help seller to get the higher possible price.

Hi Ms Tan,

You may opt to DIY for both transactions but should you require the services of a salesperson for both, service fees will be applicable. A typical sale transaction is 2% of selling price +'GST while purchasing will be 1% + GST. Clients do pay me more for value adding services and advise before therefore we can work on the figures. Just like what Vincent has indicated, most importantly is to fetch you a good price for both sales and purchase, where the benefits you get outweigh the serice fees you will be paying.

Afternoon Evelyn,

Under CEA regulation, commission payable is not fixed as per market rate hence you can work this figure out with your marketing associate. If you choose to buy and sell through the same salesperson, you would likely to get better rates. As to whether to buy first or sell first, it would definitely be dependent on your requirement.

Anyone offering big discount may likely pro-rate their quality of service, and likely you saved on the penny and lose the pound.

Hi Ms Tan,

If you source the unit from propertyguru yourself, you need not pay that agent commission for buying. That is what Is termed as DIY buyer, where you will take care of all paperworks required for the purchase.
