Good afternoon,

Extension of stay will kick in after the resale completion at HDB, typically it is for a period of 3 months. You will get your sale proceeds at the sale completion date, and this can be used for your next flat purchase. Typically only those who do not have an interim place to move to will request for extension so as to complete their renovations before moving out of the current place.
