He must be included as an occupier in the application for you to be able to purchase. You must also sell all existing properties within 6 months as part of the hdb regulations.

As a married couple, your husband will need to agree to the purchase either as one of the owners or as an essential occupier. Therefore it is not possible to purchase a HDB flat under your sole ownership.

1) Buying on your own means that you shall be the sole owner.
2) Your husband's name will still need to be in the application as an occupier. He will be automatically be identified as the essential occupier.
3) Note that both of you must not own any private residential property for the past 15 months if you intend to buy a 5-rm and bigger flat.
4) No grants will be available unless you and your husband have not owned any private residential property for the past 30 months.
