I want to buy a new or resale hdb with my partner. Before that I need to opt out from my current flat joint tenancy at pasir ris st 51 with my dad and sis. What is the best option for us now so we all can benefit financially? Is it to downgrade the house and left my sis and dad as co owners, to retain the house with my name opt out or others etc? Pls advice

Morning, Based on your statement, I would say that your father and sister will be the only one staying in the current unit after you have moved out. If they do not mind downgrading and if their financial status permit, it would definitely be better to downgrade. This will also allow you to get back the CPF contribution plus interest, which you might have contributed, and have your ownership status removed. As to whether you will be eligible for BTO, this would depend if your current unit have being purchased directly from HDB or with housing grant. Do feel free to contact me for further discussion. Dear sir/madam, In your current situation, the best option is to talk to your father and sister on their preferred arrangements. Do they wish to continue staying in the present apartment or are they fine with downgrading since you will be moving out. Bear in mind, should your sister be planning to get married in the near future and wish to get a place on her own with her family, it could potentially be another issue both have to face. Make the plans early if possible such that inconveniences can be avoided. Mike has made the point about the financial aspect therefore it is definitely better to talk within your family first before meeting any salesperson.
