I’m 33 years old this year and going through a divorce. I know I can’t keep the flat on my own and need to form a family nucleus. My parents and siblings all have their own place. And it would be ridiculous to have them sell their place just for me. I would really not want to move back to my parents’ place as it’s humiliating. Hence, I would like find out if anyone knows if I can transfer the ownership of my 4room HDB BTO (3 more years to end of MOP) from my soon-to-be-ex-husband to my unmarried aunt such that I Co-own this place with her? Thank you in advance.

Dear madam,

Am sorry to hear about the situation. If you do not have any children, then such an arrangement to retain the property will not be possible unfortunately. You may try to appeal for such arrangement but chances of this to be approved in my opinion is extremely slim.

Hi there, I actually have a client who faced a similar situation as you and has successfully appeal to keep the unit. there are actually a few factors to consider. but in the event that the appeal does not go through. do you have any alternative plan? my suggestion is to sit down with a real estate professional and go through your options before deciding which is the best route before you take any action.
