Hi Candice,

1) It is a matter of chance.
2) There are many more applications from the Public scheme compared to the Joint-Single Scheme.
3) The number of SBFs is usually not high enough to satisfy all applicants.
4) This could be the main reason why you seldom or never heard of the Joint-Single scheme got hold of an SBF.

You are correct, Candice. In Singapore, under the current regulations (as of March 27, 2024), the Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercise is not open to applications from two people under the Joint Singles Scheme.

Here's a breakdown of SBF eligibility:

Eligible Applicants:

Single Singapore Citizens (SCs) aged 21 and above
Married couples (including couples where one spouse is a Permanent Resident (PR))
Ineligible Applicants:

Two singles applying jointly under the Joint Singles Scheme
Possible Reasons for Ineligibility:

The SBF aims to clear unsold flats quickly, and prioritizing families and couples might achieve this goal faster.
The Joint Singles Scheme is relatively new, and the eligibility criteria for SBFs might not have been updated to include it yet.
